The Department of Fisheries & Marine Resources Management (MSPK) is one of the Departments managed by the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science, Universitas Brawijaya, Malang. Based on the Decree of the Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia No. 0174/0/1983 concerning the Arrangement of Departments in Faculties within State Universities/Institutes and Decree of the Director General of Higher Education of the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia No. 118/Dikti/1984 concerning the type and number of Study Programs in each Department in the Faculty at Universitas Brawijaya, the Faculty of Fisheries is determined to have one Department, namely the Department of Fisheries Resource Management which has three Study Programs, namely: Aquatic Resources Management Study Programme, Fisheries Product Processing Study Programme, and Fisheries Socio-Economic Study Programme.
Since 7 July 1996, the Faculty of Fisheries of Universitas Brawijaya was established to have one Department and five study programs through the Decree of the Director General of Higher Education of the Ministry of Education and Culture No. 251/DIKTUKEP/1996, as follows:
1. Aquatic Resource Management (MSP)
2. Fishery Product Technology (THP)
3. Fisheries Socio-Economics (SEP)
4. Aquaculture (BP)
5. Fisheries Resource Utilisation (PSP)
In 2001, with the Decree of the Ministry of National Education, Director General of Higher Education No. 2534 / D / T / 2001 dated 2 August 2001, FPIK UB received permission to hold an undergraduate education program (S-2) with the name Aquaculture Study Program then based on the Letter of Postgraduate Director of Brawijaya UniversityNo.692 /SK/2006 concerning Guidelines for the Implementation of Postgraduate Programmes of Universitas Brawijaya and Decree of the Rector of Universitas Brawijaya dated 27 February 2006 number: 30/SK/2006 concerning the Implementation of Postgraduate Programmes of Universitas Brawijaya transferred to the Faculty, starting in the academic year 2006/2007 the implementation of the Master's Programme in Aquaculture was handled by FPIK UB. In its development, the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science currently has 3 (three) Departments and 6 (six) study programmes. The study programmes included in the MSPK Department are:
1. Bachelor of Aquatic Resources Management (S1 MSP)
2. Bachelor of Fishery Product Technology (S1 THP)
3. Bachelor of Aquaculture (S1 BP)
4. Master of Aquaculture (S2 BP)
5. Doctor of Fisheries and Marine Science (S3 IPK)
The vision of FMRM Department is to become a department with international standards by implementing fisheries and marine entrepreneurial strategies and being able to play an active role in producing quality human resources in managing fisheries resources in a sustainable manner, optimising the productivity of fisheries resources with an environmentally friendly aquaculture system engineering and becoming a scientific information centre in fishery product technology through the process of aligning education, research and community service.
The mission of the Department of FMRM are:
